| MAX MUGELLI WILL DRIVE THE ASTON MARTIN DBRS9 OF THE BMS SCUDERIA ITALIA TEAM IN THE FIA GT3 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP Max Mugelli, the Tuscan driver who has been the protagonist during the last two seasons of the Ferrari Challenge and the Italian GT Championship, will race this year for the new FIA GT3 European Championship driving the Aston Martin DBRS9 managed by BMS Scuderia Italia and prepared by Prodrive. It’s a successful result for him, asserting himself, season after season, within the framework of the Gran Turismo Italian Championship and now, for first time in his career, he has the opportunity to demonstrate his value at the international level. Even if the FIA GT3 championship makes its debut, it has been widely acclaimed by drivers, teams and manufacturers. During the inaugural race in Silvestone, which takes place on May 7 2006, even the following cars will be present: Ascari KZ1R, Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper Coupé, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Sport Exige, Maserati GranSport Light, Porsche 997. The championship consists of 5 tests, one of which is the famous Spa Track: the FIA GT3 championship takes place at the Mugello track on September 17 2006, where Max’s fans will meet to support him. The other drivers who take part in the FIA GT3 Championship with the BMS Scuderia Italia team are Lilian Bryner, Enzo Calderari, Toni Seiler, Marcello Zani and Franco Groppi. The composition of cars will be decided after the first tests foreseen in Magny Cours by the end of the month. Max Mugelli: “It’s really a special day for me. After years of sacrifice and commitment, I can say that I have reached an important target: for the first time in my career, I will take part in a European Championship wanted by the FIA, the International Automobile Federation. It’s an highly competitive championship which will see the best cars of the GT International Championship lined up: it has been calculated that there will be 40 cars lined up! The championship will be run on important tracks, including the famous SPA track. I am proud to have been chosen by Scuderia Italia, a team which needs no introduction. Suffice it to remember the results obtained first in the Formula One Championship and then in the GT Championship, winning twice the FIA GT Championship and once the Italian GT Championship during the last three years. We have to do a great development work in view of the season, the car is new and must be set up. I am sure that, thanks to the work of Scuderia Italia, Prodrive and Aston Martin Racing, we will achieve good results. Moreover, I am enthusiastic about the fact that, for the first time, the FIA GT Championship takes place at the Mugello track: I would like to thank all the people who have supported me up to now and above all my sponsors which have played a determinant role in my career and even this year I hope to give them satisfaction ! ” |
